I'm delighted to share my design Sweet Magnolias, and even more delighted to see it brought to life by Melbourne brand Sanctuary Studio. Sweet Magnolias adorns their stunning range of nightwear and robes, cosmetic bags, and draw liners.

This design was in my head for the longest time, and I was so excited to bring it to life. It’s easy when your subject is so naturally beautiful, their curvaceous form of magnolias translated by fine pencil linework.
A sculptural flower, with a commanding grace about them, the magnolia flower’s ephemeral nature is a part of their beauty. Their leaves equally as stunning, the way they twist and curl, with their lush deep green foliage, and bronzed velvet underside.

Sweet Magnolias is celebration of one of nature’s most elegant flowers, capturing the soft, delicate beauty of magnolias. Hand-drawn with gentle strokes and subtle colouring, this design brings a timeless sophistication to any room, ideal for both modern and traditional spaces.
Sweet Magnolias is based on the Magnolia Grandiflora variety that is quite common in Australia. Magnolias are native to southern United States, and were named in honour of the French botanist Pierre Magnol (1638-1715), who interestingly developed the concept of plant family classifications as we know it today.
The tree itself is evergreen so we get to enjoy their glossy green foliage all year round, a florists’ favourite. The flower is very short lived, only a few days at most, making it even more special when you can experience it in real life. A subtle perfume with a sweet slightly citrus scent, this flower is a beauty, so I translated her into an everlasting design to enjoy in your home.
